About Emmanuel Birstein CST

An engineer-physicist by training, an athlete by his life habits, a researcher by nature and an osteopath by his life mission. These life experiences helped Emmanuel to understand that often it is not the treatment technique that makes the principal difference in working with patients, but a state of being of the one who administrates the treatment. Moreover, the best results happen when the physician or practitioner reaches a state of deep stillness, balance, neutrality, and detachment from the results.

Emmanuel is the only fully certified CranioSacral Therapist (CST) in Western PA. He has great success with a wide variety of disorders: from mental to digestive; from immune to musculoskeletal; from chronic to acute. Emmanuel is especially effective with special needs children and their families. Each person is unique, and so Emmanuel’s bodywork approach is specific to each individual client, whether a two-week-old infant or a 100-year-old resident of a nursing home. Emmanuel treats people, not diseases.

I work with babies, children, adults and elderly. I employ therapeutic modalities that gained popularity under such trade names as Craniosacral Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage, Nerve Manipulation, Visceral Manipulation, Craniosacral Biodynamic, Manual Lymphatic Stimulation, Structural Integrative Therapy, Myofascial Therapy (or Release), Orthopedic Massage and Postural Integration. A blend of very simple ancient practices of Yoga and Chi Gong is an integral part of my therapy session. In addition to the bodywork treatment I teach some of my clients a personalized set of Yoga postures, movements and breathing that equally benefits world class athletes and residents of nursing homes.
  • Hundreds of grateful clients.
  • Immediate results for many issues (e.g. phobias, pain, depression, lymphatic, structural)
  • Results show in just a few weeks for more complex problems (e.g. digestive, neurological, ASD, multiple system involvement)

Emmanuel has lived and worked in many countries in different parts of the world. He was born in 1947 in the USSR, immigrated to the US and settled in Pittsburgh, PA in 1979. Emmanuel’s experience in the development of Artificial Intelligence systems as an engineer and physicist, his athletic training, and his work with clients over the years has led him to the belief that anyone can achieve a state of STILLNESS at least for a short time if during that period of time they can detach from personal desires and ambitions and become humble and open-minded. If physicians and healthcare practitioners can experience such a state and immerse their patients in it, then their treatment will be significantly more effective.
